Forty days ago, I began this journey as an act of self-commitment — a promise to show up for myself every single day, no matter how tired, distracted, or weighed down life felt. What started as a simple idea, 40DaysTo40, became something deeper: a mirror, a microscope, and a compass all at once.
I have written through joy, grief, fear, and triumph. I’ve faced my past head-on — the losses, the betrayals, the love that didn’t last — and I’ve embraced my present with gratitude, discipline, and hope. I’ve honored my roots in Guyana, my scientific curiosity, my creative spirit, and my role as a mother who is breaking cycles while building new legacies.
Over these forty days, I’ve:
Planted seeds of self-worth — learning that I already am what I’ve been seeking.
Rooted myself in resilience — remembering that the mud never stops the lotus from blooming.
Faced the shadows — forgiving where I could, and setting boundaries where I must.
Celebrated my body and spirit — reclaiming both from the weight of other people’s stories.
Reimagined my future — not as something to stumble into, but something to design.
This series was never just about turning forty. It was about arriving at a place where I could finally say: I am ready. Ready to create. Ready to lead. Ready to take every lesson, every scar, every spark of creativity and turn it into something bigger than myself.
And so, as 40DaysTo40 ends, a new chapter begins — one where my vision extends beyond my own reflection. Today, I officially launch the DevXpressions crowdfunding campaign — a venture that combines science, sustainability, and soul. Through DevXpressions, I’m building a bridge between my Guyanese heritage and the global market, ethically sourcing natural oils and botanical ingredients, while creating products and opportunities that empower communities.
Just like this blog series, DevXpressions is about connection — between the roots and the bloom, between tradition and innovation, between where I started and where I’m going.
So here we are: Day 40. The culmination of this journey, and the very first step of the next one. I invite you to be part of it — to help plant the seeds, nurture the roots, and watch this vision bloom.
